let the present age of son is x.

present age of father is 4x.

after 10 years,

son's age is x+10

father's age is 4x+10

After 10 years father's age is 3 times more than his son's age.

Means :father's age = 3×son's age.

(x+10)×3 = 4x+10

3x+30 = 4x+10

30-10 = 4x-3x

20 = x

x = 20

hence, the present age of son

= x = 20 years

present age of father = 4x =

4×20=80 years

Answer:

Present age of son is 20 years and present age of father is 80 years.

Explanation:

Given :-

  • The present age of a father is 4 times the age of his son.
  • After 10 years, age of father will become 3 times the age of his son.

To find :-

  • Their present ages.

Solution :-

Consider,

  • Son's present age = x years

★ The present age of a father is 4 times the age of his son.

Then,

  • Father's present age = 4x years

After 10 years,

  • Father's age = (4x+10) years
  • Son's age = (x+10) years

According to the question,

  • After 10 years, age of father will become 3 times the age of his son.

4x+10 = 3(x+10)

→ 4x+10 = 3x+30

→ 4x-3x = 30-10

→ x = 20

Then,

★ Present age of son = 20 years

★ Present age of father = 4×20 = 80 years
