Pure Gold is 24 Carat

now 20 Carat gold has purity

= (20/24) * 100

= 83.33 %

Impurities in Gold = 100 % - 83.3333333%

= 16.6666666666 %

= 16.67 %

We can say option 4 is correct 16.66 %

Answer:

The percentage of impurity in 20 carat gold is 16.66%

Explanation:

The purity of Gold is expressed in terms of " Carats ".

24 Carat gold is considered as 100% pure gold

Pure Gold is very soft due to which it is not suitable for making jewellery.

Hence Gold is alloyed with a small amount of copper to make it hard which can be used to make jewellery.

Formula to calculate purity of Gold :

Just divide the karat number of your jewellery by 24 and multiply by 100.

So  Now purity of 20carat Gold= (20/24 )x 100= 83.33 %

Hence percentage of impurity in 20 carat Gold =100%- 83.33%

=16.6 %
