The perimeter of a rectangle and square are same. If the length and breadth
of the rectangle are 25 cm and 17 cm respectively, which figure has greater
area and how much?

perimeter of the rectangle = 2( l+b )

                                             = 2 x 25+17

                                              = 2 x 42

                                               = 84 cm

perimeter of the square = 84 cm

                               = 84 / 4

                               = 21 cm

area of the rectangle = l x b

                                   =25 x 17

                                    = 425 cm^2

area of square = s x s

                          = 21 x 21

                          = 441 cm^2

therefore square has a greater area by 16 cm^2
