Given : The perimeter of a square is 12 cm

Perimeter of the another square is 16 cm

To find :  the perimeter of a square which is equal in area to those combined two squares

Solution:

Square of Side a   unit

Perimeter = 4a

Area  =  a²

The perimeter of a square is 12 cm

=> a = 3  cm

=> area = 3² = 9  cm²

The perimeter of a square is 16 cm

=> 4a = 16

=> a = 4  cm

=> area = 4² = 16 cm²

Total Combined Area = 9 + 16

=> Total Combined Area = 25 cm²

a² = 25

=> a = 5 cm

Perimeter = 4a   =4(5) = 20  cm

perimeter of a square which is equal in area to those combined two squares = 20  cm
