Let the three sides be x, x, y (y being the unequal side which is base)

y = 1.5x (given)

Perimeter = x + x + 1.5x = 42

3.5x = 42

x = 42/3.5 =12

The three sides are 12, 12, 1.5(12)

From heron’s formula:

Area of triangle = root of {s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)} (a, b, c are sides and

s is the semi perimeter which is (a+b+c)/2)

Root of {21(9)(9)(3)}

Answer is 27(root7)
