Perimeter of triangle ABC = 60 cm
Perimeter of triangle LMN = 48 cm
AB = ?
LM = 8 cm
In similar triangles ABC & LMN, ratios of perimeters of the triangles are equal to the ratios of their respective sides.
 \frac{perimeter \: of \: triangle \: abc}{perimeter \: of \: triangle \: lmn}  =  \frac{ab}{lm}
 \frac{60}{48}  =  \frac{ab}{8}
ab =  \frac{60}{48}  \times 8 =  \frac{60}{6}  = 10 \: cm
AB = 10 cm

Note that the ratio of squares of sides of similar triangles are equal to the ratio of their areas. With perimeter, it does not get squared.
