In the poem “The Frog and the Nightingale”, Vikram Seth portrays two distinct characters which mock the society.
The frog is portrayed as an envy and cunning animal. This reflects some people in the society who feel jealous of others’ improvement or growth in life. So, they use their cunning attitude to destroy the persons’ growth or exploit them to their side.
The nightingale is portrayed as an innocent and simple bird. This reflects some people who are too good in the society. They don’t even know that they are being cheated by others. They blindly believe the words of others and do the same. Thus, the poem is a mock of the society by the two distinct characters.
