The present age of Geeta's father is three times the present age of Geeta. After 5years, the different of their age then will be 30 years. Find their present age. Fifteen more than three times a number is equal to ten less than six times the number. What is the number?

Solution -

1. Let the present age of Geeta be x years.

Therefore, the present age of Geeta's father be 3x years.

After 5 years,

Geeta's age be x + 5 years and Geeta's father's age be 3x + 5 years.

Given:

3x + 5 - (x + 5) = 30

3x + 5 - x - 5 = 30

2x = 30

x = 15 years

Therefore, Geeta's father's age = 3x = 3 * 15 = 45 years.

Answer - Geeta's Present age = 15 years and Geeta's father's present age = 45 years.


2. Let the number be x.

Given:

3x + 15 = 6x -10

6x - 3x = 15 + 10

3x = 25

x = 25/3

Answer - The number is 25/3.

Solution of question no. 1 :-
Let the present age of Geeta = 'x' Years
Then her father's age will be = 3x Years.
After 5 years,
Geeta's age = (x + 5) Years
And her father's age = (3x + 5) Years.
After 5 years the difference between the ages of Geeta and her father = 30 years. However the difference between the ages of both will always remain 30 years, it cannot be changed.
According to the question,
3x + 5 - 30 = x + 5
⇒ 3x - x = 30 - 5 + 5
⇒ 2x = 30
⇒ x = 15 
Hence the present age of Geeta is 15 years.
Her father's age = 3 × 15 = 45 years.
Solution of question no. 2 :-
Let the number be 'x'
Then 15 more than three times the number = 3x + 15
ten less than six times the number = 6x - 10
Therefore, equation will be = 3x + 15 = 6x - 10
⇒ 3x - 6x = - 10 - 15
⇒ - 3x = - 25
⇒ 3x = 25
⇒ x = 25/3
