the present age of Rafi and fatima are in the ratio of 7:5, 10 years later the ratio of their ages will be 9:7 find their present age

Rafi : Fatima  = 7:5

Let  1 part of the ratio be x

Therefore, Rafi = 7x ; Fatima = 5x

10 years later,

Rafi = 7x + 10

Fatima = 5x + 10

Therefore, (7x + 10)/(5x + 10) = 9/7                                ( 9:7 = 9/7 )

Equating,

7(7x + 10) = 9(5x + 10)

49x + 70 = 45x + 90

49x - 45 x = 90 - 70

4x = 20

x = 5

present ages ,

Rafi = 7x = 35

Fatima = 5x = 25
