The principal of a school decided to divide the rectangular playground by a 2 m wide path parallel to the length of the ground and 3 m wide path parallel to its width. Find the remaining area of the ground, if the ground is 50 m long and 30 m wide.​

Dimension of playground =(120 m×80 m)  

Area of rectangle ABCD=120×80=9600m

Area of rectangle ABFE  

=AB×BF=120×3=360m

Now, IH=CF=BC−BF=80−3=77 m

So, Area of rectangle GHIJ  

JI×IH=2×77=154m

So, Area of Remaining ground rectangle GHIJ= Area of  rectangle ABCD− Area or rectangle ABFE− Area of rectangle GHIJ

=9600−360−154=9600−514=9086m
