Healthcare facilities are not readily available to all sections of the society. The poor and women are the worst affected sections of the society. Since the basic facilities like water, sanitation and housing are not available to the poor people, they are more prone to ill health.

On the other hand, Indian society tends to extend all benefits and facilities to males rather than females. Women are debarred from good nutritional diet and access to medical institutions. These tend to make women vulnerable to health crises
