The product (–9) × (–5) × (– 6)×(–3) is positive whereas the product (–9) × ( –5) × 6 × (–3) is negative. Why?

this is because the second product contains odd number of negative sign which gives a negative answer whereas the first product contains even numbers of negative sign giving a positive product.

(–9) × (–5) × (– 6)×(–3) is positive

There are even number of negative numbers.

Even number of negative numbers when multiplied together will give us a positive number.


(–9) × ( –5) × 6 × (–3) is negative.

There are odd number of negative numbers.

Odd number of negative numbers when multiplied together will give us a negative number.
