Let the other number be x

According to question,

x \times \frac{ - 35}{24} = \frac{5}{9}

Transposing

x = \frac{5}{9} \times \frac{ - 24}{35}

5×7 =35 and 3×3=9 and 3×-8=24

x = \frac{1}{3} \times \frac{ - 8}{7}

7×3=21

x = \frac{ - 8}{21}

Given,
The product = 5/9
The other number is = -35/24
The first number = (to be calculated)

Let the first number be x.

So,

x \times - \frac{35}{24} = \frac{5}{9} \\ \\ - \frac{35x}{24} = \frac{5}{9} \\ \\ \bf \: On \: cross \: multiplying \\ \\ 9( - 35x) = 5(24) \\ \\ - 315x = 120 \\ \\ - 21x = 8 \\ \\ x = - \frac{8}{21}

Let's check whether our calculation is right or not,

 - \frac{8}{21} \times - \frac{35}{24} = \frac{5}{9} \\ \\ \frac{1}{3} \times \frac{5}{3} = \frac{5}{9} \\ \\ \frac{5}{9} = \frac{5}{9}

If any doubt, please ask ;)
