Answer:

Electric power = voltage x current, i.e., P = VI

Given P = 1100 W and V = 220 V

∴ Current in the circuit I = P/V = 1100 W/220V = 5 A

Resistance of the heating element = V/I = 220 V/5 A = 44 Ω.

Energy consumed in the month of November if the heater is used 4 h per day = Power x time

                                                                                                                         = 1100 W x 30 x 4 h

                                                                                                                         = 132000 Wh = 132 kWh

Answer: 132 kWh

Concept:

Power rating of an appliance.

Given:

the rating of an electric heater is 1100 watt.220v.calculate itd resistance when it operates at 220v .Also calculate the energy consumed in kwh in month of november, if the heater is used daily for four hours at the rated voltage.

To find:

Resistance and energy consumed

Solution:

We know that power is given by

P=\frac{V^{2} }{R}

R=\frac{V^{2} }{P}\\\\R=\frac{220*220}{1100}\\\\R=44 \Omega

Power consumed per day

E=1.1 \times 10^{3}*4

Power consumed in month of november

E=1.1 \times 10^{3}*4*30\\E=132Kwh
