The total of p and q presents ages is 48 years

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that The ratio between the ages of p and q is 5 : 7 respectively

Let the ratio be x

So, p's age = 5x

q's age = 7x

p's age after 6 years = 5x+6

We are given that the difference between present age of q and age of p after 6years is 2

7x-(5x+6)=2

2x-6=2

2x=8

x=4

p's present age = 5x=5(4)=20 years

q;s present age = 7(4)=28

Sum of present ages = 20+28 = 48 years

Hence  the total of p and q presents ages is 48 years
