Answer:

Let be the weight of copper = 4x

And of zinc = 7x

The total weight = 7.7kg or 7700g

So, 4x+7x= 7700

11x = 7700

x = 7700/11

x = 700 g

and in kg = 700/1000 = 0.7 kg

Here we find the value of x = 0.7kg

=> Copper = 4x

= 4 × 0.7 = 2.8 kg

=> Zinc = 7x

= 7 × 0.7 = 4.9 kg

So, Copper = 2.8kg

And Zinc = 4.9kg

ratio of copper : zinc

4:7

let the ratios be 4x and 7x resp.

total weight =7.7kg

4x + 7x = 7.7 kg

11x =7.7 kg

x= 0.7------ (i)

now weight of copper =4x

= 4 × 0.7(from i)

= 2.8 kg

and weight of zinc= 7x

= 7× 0.7( from i)

= 4.9 kg
