The ratio of the ages of anjali and smita is 2 : 3. after 6 years the ratio of their ages becomes 5 : 7. what is the present age of smita?

Hi Nitin,

Let their present ages be a and s respectively.
a:s = 2:3
a/s=2/3
a=(2/3)s ....(1)

now, after 6 years
a+6 / s+6 = 5/7
by cross multiplying
7a + 42 = 5s + 30.....(2)

solving equations 1 and 2
a= 12
s= 36

so the present age of smita is 36 years
