Answer:

REfractive index is inversely propotional to the speed of light in the medium.

(i) speed will be minimum in medium D because it has high refractive index

(ii) speed will be maximum in medium A because it has low refractive index

hope it helps :)

The refractive indices of four media A, B, C and D are given in the following table

Medium A B C D

Refractive index 1.33 1.50 1.52 2.40

If light, travel from one medium to another, in which case the change in speed will be i) Maximum ii) Minimum

 \bold\blue{solution}

The refractive index of a medium is related to the speed of light as follows

Refractive index = Speed of light in vacuum / speed of light in a medium.

Since the speed of light in vacuum is a constant, the refractive index becomes inversely proportional to the speed of light in a medium.

(1)The speed of light is maximum in a medium that has the lowest refractive index,ie.,medium A

(2) The speed of light is minimum in a medium that has the highest refractive index,ie., medium D.

Hope this Help u :)
