The Earth takes approximately 1 year to complete one revolution. When it revolves around the Sun tilted on it's axis, North Pole of the Earth remains inclined towards the Sun for almost 6 months. Therefore, North Pole experiences continuous daylight and the South Pole experiences continuous darkness. Now, at the end of 6 months, the Earth reaches the opposite side of it's orbit but it's inclination remains in the same direction. So, now the South Pole faces the Sun and North Pole is away from the Sun. So the South Pole remains towards the Sun for six months and experiences continuous daylight and North Pole experiences continuous darkness.
