The answer depends upon the type of commodity.

In case of normal goods, or goods of superior quality, demand and income have a positive relationship, which means, if income of consumer rises, the demand increases and vice-versa.

However, in case of inferior goods, demand and income of consumer have a negetive relationship, which means as income decreases, demand increases and vice-varsa.

Note:

Negetive relationship is also known as inverse relationship.
