The second session of Maharashtra Parished was held at Bombay. The Samyukta Maharastra Parisahd (Samiti) was found in the year 1956.The prime motive of this samiti was to have a separate district for the Marathi people. The samiti was formed under Keshavrao Jedhe. The demand of this samiti was achieved on May 1 ,1960 when Mumbai was separated into two states i.e Maharashtra and Gujarat.
