India became a democratic republic on 26 January 1950.
Before India wan't all these flooded with elections, election campaigns and all, but now it IS.
The leaders established a Parliament. A Constitution was made. An independent Judiciary, a Legislature and an Executive was made. The Fundamental and Constitutional Rights which we all know now came into being. The Constitution mentioned specific evils, liberties, rules and regulations. Many laws came into effect. The Princely States merged with the ordinary states or formed separate ones. This was done by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, mainly. Each state needed to have its respective sets of Ministers, including the Chief Minister. For this candidates needed to be chosen through a set procedures for their selection through the people. This was called an election . Because of this, election constituencies were made to make the process easier. Polling booths were constructed.New political parties were formed.People now got the rights to freedom of speech and expression, freedom, civil liberties, constitutional remedies, rights against exploitation, crimes etc.
After developments in politics, focus was now shifted to other factors.New laws concerning environmental protection, agricultural production, biodiversity conservation, etc. were passed. Human Resource development came into effect. Literacy levels of states increased. Provisions were made to enhance agricultural production, food security, remove poverty. Poverty elevation programmes were introduced. Steps were taken to enhance the Iron and Steel production in India.
Therefore, India's political and economic situations improved. These were the circumstances and the situation of India after the establishment of democracy in India.
