hi amigo
refrective index= c/v(c= velocity of light in vaccum) (v= velocity of light in any medium)
so n=c/v
n=108X 10^7/12X10^4

As we know, speed of light in air = 3,00,000 km/s
Speed of light in diamond = 1,20,000 km/s
Refractive index of diamond with respect to air,
 = Speed of light in air/ Speed of light in diamond
 = 3,00,000/1,20,000
 = 2.5
∴ Refractive index of diamond = 2.5
