In this story, the author clearly emphasizes that we should not be jealous of others success and joy or else we put our own in danger.Jealousy raises a spirit of competition that at times make us forget about everything including our joy. It makes us want to rise above all and this makes us arrogant and selfish. We should try and celebrate the others joys than compete with them as this could also put an end to friendship as each will try to achieve more than the other crossing all limits.
