The subatomic particle called electron was discovered by J.J Thomson

Explanation:

J.J Thomson, a British physicist discovered a subatomic particle called electron by performing experiments to find out the properties of cathode rays. He took a glass tube and evacuated that we pumped out much of the air out of the tube.  Then between two electrodes at either end of the tube, applied a high electrical voltage. He observed that the stream of particles was coming out from the negatively charged electrode i.e., a cathode that was named as electrons.
