Let the two number be x and y

sum of two numbers is 16

x + y = 16....(1)

difference of two numbers is 14

x - y = 14.....(2)

From equation (1) and (2) we get,

2y = 2

y = 1

put this in equation (1), we get

x = 15

Hence, the values of x and y is 15 and 1

Let the numbers be x and y

First condition :

x + y = 16

Second condition :

x - y = 14

Now adding both equations :

x + y = 16

x - y = 14

__________

2x = 30

x = 30 ÷ 2

= 15

substituting value of x in equation 1

15 + y = 16

y = 16 - 15

= 1

Hope this helps
