Answer:

The sum is 7 .

Product is 12

in both the cases ,we know that if the sum is 7 the number will be obviously less than 7 are there are only two numbers which when added, we get 7 and when multiplied we get 12 .

it is 3 and 4.

hope it helps

Answer:

You can do this formally if you want.

x+y=7 eq |

xy=12

Then solve simultaneously.. as in

Y=12/x eq ||

From eq | and eq ||, we get

x+12/x = 7

x^2 -7x+12 = 0

x^2 -4x-3x+12 =0

x(x-4) -3(x-4)=0

x=4, x=3

let's take x =4

on putting d value of x in eq |

Their difference will be 1.

we get Y = 3
