⇒ x becomes 3x in 3 years

⇒ x ( 1 +  \frac{R}{100} )³ =3x

⇒( 1 +  \frac{R}{100} )³ =3x --- (1)

⇒Let x becomes 9x in n years

⇒( 1 +  \frac{R}{100})^n =9x

⇒( 1 +  \frac{R}{100})^n =9 ---(2)

⇒[(1+  \frac{R}{100} )³]² =3²=9 [From ( 1 )]

⇒(1+  \frac{R}{100})^6 = 9 ----- ( 3 )

⇒From ( 2 ) and ( 3 )

⇒ n=6

∴Required number of years are 6.
