Let the present age of father and son be X and Y.

A/Q,

X+Y = 60

X = 60-Y. ........(1)

AFTER 14 YEARS AGE OF FATHER = X+14

AFTER 14 YEARS AGE OF SON = Y+14

A/Q,

X+14 = 3(Y+14)

X+14 = 3Y + 42

X-3Y = 42-14

X-3Y = 28

Putting the Value of X in,

X-3Y = 28

60-Y-3Y = 28

-4Y = 28-60

-4Y = -32

4Y = 32

Y = 32/4 = 8

HENCE,

THE AGE OF SON = 8

AND,

THE AGE OF FATHER = 60-Y = 60-8 = 52 Years
