The sum of two digit number is 9 , if it exceeds the original number by 4.5 ,find the number using simultaneous equations. How can we find the number?

Let the 2 digit no. Be 10x + y

Sum of digits is 9. So

x + y = 9 Eq1

x + y = 10 x + y + 4.5

-9x = 4.5

x = - 0.5

Put x in eq 1

- 0.5 + y = 9

y = 9 + 0.5 = 9.5

So no is 10x + y

10 * - 0.5 + 9.5

- 5 + 9.5

4.5

Hence no. Is 4.5
