Let , Number will be X and y.

So,

a/c to questions .

X + y = 42......................(1).

y = 2x

=> 2x -y =0.......................(2).

[ add (1) + (2)/ ]

=> 3x = 42.

=> x = 42/3.

=> x = 14.

[ keep value of x in (2) ]

=> 2 * 14 - y =0.

=> y = 28.

Thus :;
