Given :x+y=9 and x²-y²=9
>x²-y²=(x+y)(x-y)
>(x²-y²)/(x+y)=x-y
>9/9=x-y
x-y=1...... i
x+y=9.....ii
On solving these equation we get x=5 and y=4
