Let the other number be x

-11/6 + x= -5

x= -5+ 11/6

×= 30/30 + 55/30

x= 85/30

x= 17/6

Let the other be x.

x +  \frac{ - 11}{6}  =  - 5 \\  \\  \frac{x}{1} +  \frac{ - 11}{6}   = ( - 5) \\  \\  \frac{6x + ( - 11)}{6}  =(  - 5) \\  \\ 6x - 11 =  - 5 \times 6 \\  \\ 6x - 11 =  - 30 \\  \\ 6x =  - 30 + 11 \\  \\ x = -   \frac{19}{6}
