The Summit Within  

The Summit Within is a thought provoking prose piece by Major H.P.S. Ahluwalia. Major Ahluwalia successfully climbed Mt. Everest in 1965. After his expedition he wrote ‘The Summit within’.

The Summit Within is a philosophical treatise where the Major discusses how one has to overcome a summit within which is more difficult to scale than the summit outside.

The summit inside the mind is a tougher task to overcome. It comprises all the mental barriers that keep hindering the spiritual growth of a person. Just like the mountain poses great difficulties in climbing its summit so does our inner conflicts. To conquer both the summits we thus require immense will power and perseverance. Only when we have overcome all the hurdles do we enjoy the pristine glory of overcoming both the summits.
