the sun appears oval at sunrise and sunset but appears circular in the noon .

it is due to refraction of light .

The sun appears oval at sunrise because at the time of sunset the sun is marked over the horizon so due to the atmospheric refraction the sun rises is 2 min early which makes the sun to look streachesd and through the real position and refractive position makes sun in a oval shaped.
