The Sun rises 2 hours earlier in Arunachal Pradesh as compared to Gujarat but clocks or watches in both the region show the same time because they are set according to Indian Standard Time. The Indian Standard time is uniform all over the country. It is taken from the Meridian 82° 30' E passing through Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesg. This meridian is taken as standard meridian as it passes through standard meridian and the local time at this meridian is the INDIAN STANDARD TIME (IST) which is 5:30 hours ahead of GMT.
