The temperature of Darjeeling at 6 am on a certain day in the winter season was recorded as -3℃. It remained constant until 8 am and started increasing every half an hour. Till noon, the temperature increased by 2℃ every half an hour. However, from that time till 6 pm, it increased by 3℃ in every hour. But, by evening, from 6 pm till 10:00 pm, it decreased by 4℃ every hour. What is the temperature of the city at 10:00 pm?

Answer:

33°C

Step-by-step explanation:

at 8 a.m it was -3°C

there is a difference of 4 hours between 8 and 12 and the temperature is increasing every half hour so that means 8×2°C=16°C temperature increased, it equals to 13°C at 12.

at 12 i.e noon it went 13°C

there is a difference of 6 hours between 12 and 18:00 and the temperature is increasing every half hour so that means 12×3°C=36°C temperature increased, it equals to 13°C+36°C = 49°C at 6 p.m

at 6 p.m it was 49°C

difference is 4 hours so 4×4°C i.e. 16°C decreased i.e. 49-16

and at 10 p.m it was 33°C
