The temperature rises by 18 degrees from -4°C what is the new temperature?

The difference between celsius degrees is greater and than the difference between Fahrenheit degrees, i.e a thermometer that increases by one degree F will increase less than one degree C

Take boiling and freezing points of water to illustrate.

F degrees - 212 F boiling minus 32 F freezing = 180 F degrees

C degrees- 100 C boiling minus 0 C freezing = 100 C degrees

So ration of F to C = 180\100 = 1.8

So , an increase of 18 F degrees is an increase of 18 X 100/180 = 10 C degrees
