the narrator and his friends decided to go for a swim in the river in the morning the next day . but in the morning the water was extremely cold and no one dared to go for a swim in it . the narrator too was unwilling but he went down to the river wash himself quickly. as he was hanging on a branch to get to the water , the branch broke and the narrator fell right into the freezing cold water.the narrator came up with a brave face and invited George and Harris in saying that the water was very refreshing , but neither of them agreed and instead gave him the title of a hero for taking a dip in the water .
