let take the price of tables =x
let take the price of chair =x+40
3tables = 3(x)=3x
2 chair = 2(x+40)=2x+80
according to the question:3x+2x+80
x=1773
so 1 tables cost=1773
cost of 3 tables=5199
cost of 1 chair = 1813
cost of 2 chair = 1326
hope it will be help you

Prateek534: sorry but the tables are 40 rs. more not the chair
Prateek534: and you have also solved the equation wrong
Prateek534: it should be
Prateek534: 3x + 2x -80 = 8745
Prateek534: so 5x = 8825
Prateek534: x= 8825/5=1765
Prateek534: OK

The cost of each chair is Rs. 1725 and the cost of each table is Rs. 1765

Given:

The total cost of 3 tables and 2 chairs is rupees 8745.

A table costs rupees 40 more than a chair.

To find:

The price of each chair and table.

Solution:

Step 1 of 2:

Let the cost of each chair be 'x'

A table costs rupees 40 more than a chair.

Cost of each table will be x + 40

The total cost of 3 tables and 2 chairs is rupees 8745.

3( 40 + x ) + 2x = 8745

120 + 3x + 2x = 8745

120 + 5x = 8745

5x = 8745 - 120

5x =8625

x = \frac{8625}{5}

x = 1725

Step 2 of 2:

Cost of each chair is Rs. 1725

Cost of each table is x + 40

Cost of each table = 1725 + 40

Cost of each table = Rs. 1765
