Let one number be x

Add 1 to the number to get the next consecutive number:

The other number is x + 1

.

The sum is 61:

x + x + 1 = 61

2x + 1 = 61

2x = 60

x = 30

.

Find the numbers:

x = 30

x + 1 = 30 + 1 = 31

.

Answer: The two numbers are 30 and 31

kaifarshagfcgmailcom: why write x+1
TooFree: Because in this case, we are looking for 2 consecutive numbers .. (Not 2 consecutive odd numbers or 2 consecutive even numbers). To find to the next number, we add 1 to the number we know. 1, 1+1=2, 2+1=3, 3+1=4 ...
kaifarshagfcgmailcom: iam not understand
lovish2566: two odd number or two even number can not give 61
TooFree: We let one of the number be x. So, to find the next number, we add 1 to it. So for example, if x is 5, then the next number will be 5 + 1 = 6
