The two semicircles in the figure above have centers R and S, respective. If RS =12, what is the total length of darkend curve?

Let the point between R and S where the semicircles meet be O
Let RO be x cm and OS be (12-x) cm
Circumference of semi circle R be πr = πx cm
Circumference of semi circle S be πr = π(12-x) cm
Adding both,
Total area of darkened curve is
πx + 12π - πx = 12π cm
