Square root and principal square root :
A square root is a combination of positive and negative.
Principal square root is the one that is not negative.
Ex: Square root of 36 is - 6 and +6.
The principal square root of 36 is +6(not -6).
Now the errors in the following are :
1. root 16 = 4(correct)
2. (-4)^(2 * 1/2) = -4
3. (-4)^1 = -4
4. cannot be determined.Mostly -4
Hope this helps!
