The value of resistance of an earthing electrode depends upon

  1. Soil type- soils possessing more rocks and gravels tends to have high resistivity.
  2. Moisture content- areas with relatively low moisture content like that of desert area or dry regions are highly resistive.
  3. Temperature-  places with low temperature like frozen grounds are said to posses more resistance than  warm ground.
  4. Mineral content- lands containing rocks with more minerals contents have more resistance. for example - Igneous rocks are more resistive than ore minerals
