The velocity time graph for motion of two bodies A and B is shown. Read the graph carefully and

answer the following questions.

(a) Which of the two bodies has a higher velocity at

time (a) t = 2 s (b) t = 4 s?

(b) Which of the two bodies has (a) constant velocity

(b) increasing velocity?

(c) At what time is the velocity of the two bodies

same?

(d) What are the velocities of A and B at time t = 1s?

Answer:

let us take the body moving with uniform velocity as A and the other moving with uniform acceleration B(having inclined slope).

1. a) at t = 2s body A has higher velocity

b) at t = 4s body B has higher velocity.

2. a) body A has constant velocity .

b) body B has increasing velocity.

3. at t = 3s the velocity of the two bodies is same .

4. at t = 1s velocity of

body A is 30m/s and body B is 10m/s.

5. at first time interval (that is at t = 2s) the velocity is 20m/s. And at second time interval (that is at t = 4s) the velocity is 40m/s.

change in velocity = velocity at second interval - velocity at first interval

= (40-20)m/s

= 20m/s
