Given:

The velocity-time graph of a truck is plotted below.

To find:

a calculat the magnitude of displacement of the truck 15 second .b. During which part of the journey was the truck deeleration. C . Calculat the magnitude of average velocity of the truck.

Solution:

From given, we have,

The velocity-time graph of a truck

a. The magnitude of displacement of the truck 15 second.

displacement  = \dfrac{1}{2} \times 4 \times 5 + 4 \times (12 -5) +  \dfrac{1}{2} \times 4 \times (15-12)\\\\= 2 \times 5 + 4 \times 7 +  2 \times 3\\\\= 10 + 28 + 6\\\\=44

Therefore, the displacement is 44 m.

b. During which part of the journey was the truck deceleration.

During the period from 12 sec to 15 sec, the journey was the truck deceleration.

c. The magnitude of the average velocity of the truck.

The average velocity of the truck = total displacement / time

= 44/15

= 2.93 m/s

Therefore, the magnitude of the average velocity of the truck is 2.93 m/s
