Answer:

Total Provision available at start = 40x200 = 8000 Students for 1 day

5 days consumption = 5 x 200 = 1000

Balance provision available = 7000 students for 1 day

Remaining students from 6th day onward = 200–50= 150

No of days provisions available = 7000/150 = 46.66 days ( Ans)

Given:

There are 200 students in a hostel. Food provision for them is for 40 days.

To find:

We have to find how many do it will last for 50 more boys.

Solution:

To determine the number of days the food will last we have to follow the below steps as follows-

There are 200 students in a hostel and food provision for them is for 40 days.

If 50 more students join them then the number of student is 200+50=250.

As the number of students increases the lasting of food decreases so, it follows an inverse relationship.

For 200 students the food will last for 40 days.

Thus for 250 students, the food will last for 200×40/250=32 days.

Thus for 250 students, the food will last for 32 days.
