There are 312, 260 and 156 students in class X, XI and XII respectively. Buses are to be hired to take these students to a picnic. Find the maximum number of students who can sit in a bus if each bus takes equal number of students​

Solution:

Assuming in any bus only on class students sit

We need to find HCF of students of class X, XI and XII

312=2*2*2*3*13

260 = 2 * 2 * 5*13

156 = 2 * 2 * 2 *13

HCF = 2 * 2*13 = 52

52 Students can sit in a bus

Number of buses required = 312/52 + 260/52 +156/52

=6 +5 +3

=14

Maximum 52 Students can sit in a bus
