Let birds on first tree=x
Birds on second tree=y
x-1=y+1
x-y=2              x=y+2
x+1=2(y-1)
x+1=2y-2
x-2y=-3
y+2-2y=-3
-y=-5
y=5
x=7
First tree had 7 birds
Second tree had 5 birds
