If we consider the theory of the life cycle of the Sun, then it is very likely that someday Earth will grow so hot that it would be inhabitable. Earth would eventually get merged with the Sun and the world would come to an end. It is less likely to grow colder considering the trend of rising global temperature. However, if temperatures fall to a great extent, then the Earth could get covered in ice and freeze. Both these scenarios would mean that life on Earth will not sustain.
